Labuan Trip

Anybody that is planning to get to Labuan from Kota Kinabalu, here is some tips that I experience.

First of all, if you are planning on a 1 day trip, wake up early so you can finish your tour in 1 day. There is 2 choices that you have, whether your planning to go Labuan through Menumbok Ferry Terminal or Jesselton Point. I choose Menumbok Ferry Terminal, and the journey takes me 3 hour from Kota Kinabalu to Menumbok. You can stop by at Papar Town to have your breakfast. Me and Yong choose Sang Nyuk Mee for breakfast.

After we reach the Menumbok Ferry Terminal, we park our car at the nearby carpark located at the side road. Don't be suprised when U see there is some houses that owned lots of car. They actually made their house property as a parking area for those people who wanted to go Labuan and not planning to bring their car along. So it is much easier. 1 day parking fee is also cheap, the owner of the house only charge us for RM5 and we are quite happy with the price.

Me and Yong decided to use a speedboat to get to Labuan since the time schedule is much more flexible than using the ferry. And it is also pretty fast. The Speedboat fee is only RM7.50 per head. And it takes us less than 20 minute to reach our destination that is Labuan. For a first timer like me, don't worry about missing the speedboat, the speedboat terminal will announce  your boat number before departing to Labuan. So make sure you listen to the announcement. It usually doesn't take long after you bought the ticket. Below is my ticket picture. Our boat number is ML15.

We arrive at Labuan at 11.35am. Yong decide to rent a car so it is easier for both of us to go around the island. The car rental fee in Labuan is super cheap. If you are planning to rent a simple car like Perodua Viva, it will only cost you RM60. Perodua Axia is RM90. We decided to rent for a better car which is Honda City since it will only cost us RM100 per day. Don't forget to request a Map from the car rental counter. For me, the map does not really help much since it doesn't tell you where you currently are. But if you can find a map where it state "YOU ARE HERE", maybe it will help more.

Our first destination is Financial Park. I think it is the only mall that Labuan had. I'm not really sure, but do tell me if i were wrong. In Financial Park you will found few duty free shop like Sky Park. That kind of place that people are searching to buy liquor, cigarette and most commonly chocolate. After going around the mall, both of us decided to go for our lunch. But we decided to go somewhere else, to find something different rather than the ordinary KFC.

Before going for our lunch, which both of us still don't know where to go. We decided to search for a petrol station nearby. I admit that it is quite difficult to search for the petrol station. Maybe because I am very bad with map. So we decided to just look around for signboard and we did found the petrol station after a few hard work. Anybody that is planning to search for any place, I suggest that you look for the signboard at the side road. A lot of shop and stall is closed on that day, maybe because it is on Sunday.

To be continued
